At LifeGR, the mission is clear: serve those who served us. But the driving force behind this organization is Jesse Johnson-Brower, a man whose commitment to supporting veterans runs deep. His story is one of service, dedication, and the constant pursuit of honoring those who have given so much for our country.

A Life Shaped by Service

Jesse’s journey as a 9/11 First Responder at the Pentagon is one that defines his character and the passion he brings to LifeGR. As a member of the Forgotten Band of Brothers—the first military unit to respond to the 9/11 attack—he knows firsthand the sacrifice and dedication that come with serving others. He witnessed the horrors of that tragic day, but also the bravery and selflessness that define the best of our nation’s heroes.

In the years that followed, Jesse operated in combat environments around the world, often embedded with some of the most elite military teams. These experiences gave him a unique, unfiltered perspective on the toll service takes—both in the field and back home.

Earlier in his career, Jesse also served at Arlington National Cemetery, taking part in hundreds of military funerals—bearing witness to the final honors given to those who paid the ultimate price. That sacred duty left an indelible mark, deepening his resolve to ensure that no veteran is ever forgotten in life or in death.

Through LifeGR, Jesse has dedicated his life to being a bridge for veterans—advocating for their mental, physical, and financial well-being. He has helped thousands find hope, healing, and a renewed sense of purpose beyond the uniform.

From Rock Bottom to Purpose

After years of intense service in high-pressure, high-risk environments, Jesse’s transition back into civilian life was anything but smooth. Though he didn’t know it at the time, he was battling severe, untreated post-traumatic stress. The emotional and psychological weight caught up fast—and hard. He lost his home to foreclosure, his vehicles to repossession, and soon found himself in a homeless situation, relying on the kindness of a local gym where he had a long-standing membership to take care of basic hygiene.

Living off the quarters in his pocket, Jesse also developed a crippling prescription drug addiction that would haunt him for the next seven years. It was during this lowest chapter that he married his wife, Tara. Together, they confronted Jesse’s personal demons—fighting side by side to reclaim their lives, their health, and their sense of purpose.

Once they had made it through, they knew they couldn’t keep that breakthrough to themselves. That moment of shared recovery was the true spark behind LifeGR—a mission built on lived experience, personal healing, and a deep resolve to help other veterans and their families find the same hope they fought so hard to regain.

A Historic Memorial Walk

On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Jesse Johnson-Brower—Army veteran, 9/11 first responder, and member of the Forgotten Band of Brothers—became the first person in history to walk between all three national 9/11 memorials.

The 487-mile journey began at Ground Zero in New York City, continued to the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and concluded at the Pentagon Memorial in Washington, D.C. Over the course of 26 days, Jesse averaged 20 miles per day—each step a personal tribute to the fallen and a call to remember what must never be forgotten.

This walk was more than a test of endurance; it was a living memorial. A symbol of honor, grief, and unwavering resolve. Upon arriving at the Pentagon on the anniversary itself, Jesse was reunited with the Forgotten Band of Brothers, the first military unit to respond to the Pentagon attacks—a moment that underscored the mission’s deep emotional and historical weight.

Jesse’s footsteps echoed far beyond the pavement. They carried a message: the sacrifices made on 9/11—and the ongoing struggles of our nation’s veterans—must never be overlooked. This memorial walk was not only a tribute to the fallen but a powerful expression of Jesse’s life’s work: to ensure no veteran is ever left behind.

Building a Lifeline for Veterans and Their Families

Through their shared journey of recovery and purpose, Jesse and Tara Johnson-Brower co-founded LifeGR to provide real, life-changing support for veterans, first responders, and civilians who serve their communities. Today, Tara serves as President of LifeGR, leading with the same resilience and compassion that helped them overcome their own darkest chapters.

Under Jesse and Tara’s leadership, LifeGR has become a beacon of hope for those who’ve served and sacrificed.

Their unwavering commitment ensures that every veteran who walks through LifeGR’s doors receives personalized support, trusted resources, and the kind of care that can only come from those who’ve walked the path themselves.
